Long, functional soft brace with flexion- / extension limitation
protect.Co is a knee soft brace with extension / flexion limit. The product is exclusively to be used for the orthotic fitting of the knee and only on unbroken skin.
Very comfortable wearing due to net material on the back
Flexion and extension wedges can be exchanged by removing one simple external screw - no caps to remove
The exchange could even be done while the patient is wearing the brace
Easy fitting due to wrap around design with velcro closing
Made of elastic, breathable and moisture transporting D-Tex material
How does it work?/Mode of action
Prevention of hyperextension and limitation of range of motion due to adjustable polycentric hinges
Very good collateral stabilisation of the knee joint due to long side bars
Soft brace with compressive and proprioceptive effect
Extension limitation at: 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
Flexion limitation at: 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75°, 90°
Immobilisation at: 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
Undo all straps and the two Velcro strips.
Now put your leg into a 45-degree angle flexion position. Wrap the brace tightly around your leg from the back and close it with the two Velcro strips.
Make sure that the kneecap is positioned centrally in the space for the patella. Position the brace so that the middles of the hinges are level with the upper border of the kneecap and just behind the lateral centre line of the leg.
First, fasten the lower calf strap and then the upper thigh strap.
Next, fasten the strap directly below the kneecap.
Finally, fasten the remaining lower thigh strap.
If possible, walk a few steps in order to check that the brace is in the correct position.
Please adjust the position as required.
Setting the flexion / extension limits
Extension limit wedge (limits extension): 0°, 10°, 20°, 30°, 45°
Flexion limit wedge (limits flexion): 0°, 60°, 75°, 90°
Can be immobilised at: 0°
The medial (inside) and the lateral (outside) wedge settings must always be the same.
10° extension wedges are preinstalled in your knee brace as standard. They are found in the front aspect of the brace’s hinge joint.
To change the silver extension wedge loosen the screw and pull the wedge out from the front of the joint. You will find the replacement wedge in the wedge set. It is marked with the corresponding wedge setting. Slide the new extension wedge into the front of the joint. Now replace the screw in the threaded hole and screw it tight.
The flexion wedges are installed from the back of the joint. Select the suitable wedge from the wedge set. Insert the wedge and secure it with the appropriate screw (enclosed).
Bend and flex the brace ‘joint’ a couple of times and check that the wedges are positioned correctly. Finally, secure the joint cover.
