Wrist braces & supports

Wrist braces and supports are used to alleviate pain, reduce symptoms, and speed up the healing process after a wrist injury or for a variety of conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injuries, sprains, tendonitis and arthritis. At medi you can find supports and braces for adults and children that are comfortable to wear and help you safely recover from wrist injuries and illnesses.

When to use a wrist support

Wrist supports can benefit the carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, tenosynovitis, rheumatoid arthritis and injuries, which are the main causes of swelling, inflammation and pain of the wrist area. The supports can also be used for the treatment of soft tissue injuries, sprains and after removing plaster casts. Immobilisation and stabilisation are the key to relieve wrist troubles. Wrist supports by medi offer high wearing comfort combined with innovative technique and an attractive design.

Wrist supports are usually flexible and sit closely on the wrist. Adjustable straps let you tighten the wrist support as needed so that it fits perfectly and offers the ideal amount of compression. You can easily put them on and take them off yourself. They provide support and allow you to go about your daily activities while helping your wrist to heal.

When to use a wrist brace

Wrist braces can be used for the treatment of sprains, distortions, tendinitis, tendinopathy and inflammatory phases of rheumatic diseases. The wrist and basal joint are fixed and stabilised by the breathable and moisture transporting brace. In addition, several wrist braces by medi offer a special support for the thumb and adjustable velcro straps, so you can adapt the brace to your wrist circumference.

Wrist braces hold the wrist in a neutral position so that it can heal correctly. They often include wrist splints that immobilise and protect the injured area. This immobilisation also helps to greatly reduces wrist pain after an injury. Despite the stiffness of the brace, they are made from soft, breathable fabric that allows air to reach your skin and makes it as comfortable as possible to wear while keeping the wrist secure.

Caring for wrist braces and supports

Especially if you wear your wrist brace or support for a prolonged period of time, it's important to regularly clean it. Every medi product comes with washing instructions that we ask you to check before you first wash them. Many of them can be machine-washed at a low temperature and should be left to air-dry. High temperatures or harsh chemicals can damage the fibres, so we advise against bleaching, ironing or dry-cleaning your orthopaedic supports or braces.

Finding the right product

Whether you suffer from a repetitive strain injury, carpal tunnel syndrome or a thumb sprain - your diagnosis or treatment will influence which wrist support or brace will best help you on your way to a fast and full recovery. Your doctor will advise you if a wrist splint, a soft support or something else is right for you. Please always follow your physician's instructions how and for how long to wear your wrist support. If you have any questions about medi products, we'd be happy to answer them for you, so please get in touch with our team!
